I don’t know about you guys, but it sure is fun to watch these YouTube videos of scammers getting pwned. I’ve come across them in the past, but today I’ve been on a binge. And not the type of binge that lasts six days and leaves you full of shame and regret, though I guess there is some shame and regret involved after seven hours of sitting up in bed and telling yourself Just one more video. Anyway, I stumbled upon a YouTube channel this morning and have been watching a charismatic young man prank and confront internet scammers for the last several hours. I didn’t stay in bed, I in fact was fairly productive this morning, but I’ve had these videos playing and I’ve been listening and sneaking glances at the screen when the conversation gets especially interesting. …

America, November 2020

I’ve always had issues with Veterans’ Day. I think it’s dangerous in the first place to fetishize things in general, but it’s immeasurably more so to exalt the state, and specifically the military. Most Americans, I’m confident, would agree that North Korea is on some next level dictator-brainwash shit when they worship the Kims, when they prostrate themselves and deify the Glorious Supreme Leader; but these Americans fail to make the connection. What does it say about us as a nation when we can’t even play a high school sports game without removing our hats and saying a prayer to American Imperialism? And American Jesus forbid someone fails to properly demonstrate their abject adoration for the flag and what it ostensibly represents, we’ll have the president of the United States calling for them to be fired from their job and ejected from society! …

Sensationally Sexy Socialist Goes All Weak-Lib!!

As I said in my previous post, I don’t want to sensationalize and ridicule people, I don’t want to spread more division and hate and fear. I genuinely believe that we need to come together and heal. I am not taking a soft, centrist stance, I am not saying there are good people on both sides, I am not saying we need to give anybody a pass. …

Alex Jones at Protect The Vote Rally outside Maricopa County Elections Department in Phoenix, Arizona — 06 November 2020

I hate to sensationalize, but those sensational headlines get clicks and, as I’ve stated before, Clicks Rule Everything Around Me, CREAM! Get the money, dollar dollar bill, y’all!

There was a man who enthusiastically shouted this at an event I attended yesterday, the Protect The Vote rally in Phoenix, Arizona. Charlie Kirk was there, so was Alex Jones, and quite a few other prominent conservative influencers and apologists. I have a video of the man shouting this, but I don’t think I’ll share it right now, sharing it would be counterproductive to the strategy the Left needs to adopt. Right now we need to find a way to heal our wounds, to rebuild the moral fabric of our nation, to come together in solidarity. …

11 September 2019 — Gilbert, Arizona

There are still many Americans walking around today saying things like ‘Support Our Troops” and “Never Forget.” It amazes me that we still get worked up over September Eleventh. It was tragic, it was traumatic, it was life-changing, it changed the whole world! But it has been almost two decades and we’ve got a lot more important things to worry about, things that directly impact not just our daily lives but the lives of billions around the world. Things like Neo-Colonialism disenfranchising and destroying the majority of the Global South, Proto-Fascism becoming mainstream in America and several other Western nations, wages maintaining a negative correlation with productivity and GDP growth, increasing debt ravaging the working class, just to name a few off the top of my head. …

I am saving this sticker to remind myself that I spent twelve years being an idiot, and that participating in electoral politics is just as important as direct action and activism.

The last time I voted was two thousand eight. I gave up after that, falling into the doomer mindset that my vote doesn’t matter. I felt that not only were there no politicians who represented and defended me, there was no point in voting because the machine exists primarily to take care of itself, and voting for token politicians does nothing to combat the exploitative system. I wrote about it a week or so ago, I’m not especially proud of that one, but it’s there if you want to read it.

Today I voted. In person. Inside what used to be a small boutique in the mall by my house, but has been shut down for the last several months. On the way to the polling place we passed several “Temporarily Closed” establishments; restaurants and a movie theater and some retail outlets. This economy scares me. The thing that scares me more are the Trump supporters who believe a soaring stock market represents working class interests, and who think Mitch McConnell actually cares about us and has been holding back a stimulus package out of the goodness of his heart. …

A family vacation at the Great Salt Lake, Utah - October 2020

In my travels across Internetland I make an effort to engage in as many conversations as I can. I do this because I want to know that the beliefs and worldview I hold are as close to sound and valid as can be.This is an ongoing process that will never be complete, but it is important to me to live in the real world, and a large part of that is learning from the people around me and admitting when I’m wrong. Several times in these cyber-conversations I’ve come across the argument that the success of the West has largely to do with the Christian formula for families and domestic life. I looked into it once, but it seemed a little too Stefan Molyneux-y for my taste, so I let the idea float off into the wasteland of mildly intriguing internet tropes that get Steven Crowder and his ilk excited. Apparently, if I correctly recall the very cursory research I conducted, the reason the empires of the West became the dominant power, and have remained so throughout the majority of Modern Human’s history, is Christian Ideology; they pushed Christian ideals and forcibly converted all the pagans and heathens and infidels in their way, and that is why we have the internet and SpaceX and Quantum Physics and all the other amazing things we have today! I don’t entirely disagree with the premise, just most of it. There is no argument over whether the West was the big bully throughout the majority of our history, they absolutely were and still are. …

Up until about eighteen months ago I was comfortably politically apathetic. I grew up a punk rock, allegedly anarchist kid, but I guess I never really understood what it was that I should have and could have been doing in order to support the cause. I read Noam Chomsky and Howard Zinn after hearing them mentioned in conversations with older punk rock and hip hop kids. From there I went on to learn about Marx and Nietzsche and Camus and Tolstoy and all the other late European philosophers that have largely molded my worldview.

When I first learned about anarchism I was awestruck. I thought it was cool, beyond cool, just a bunch of people living together and working together and caring about each other. The excitement quickly faded and became something much more cynical, I thought it was impossible, I didn’t know why at the time, I thought it was a sociological and economic unicorn. I went from tentatively, hopefully believing that some amazing utopia could exist to believing that it was all just fancy fantasy that those writers and philosophers were comforting themselves with while they watched the world carry on in the same general direction toward impending doom. …

I consider myself a Patriot, despite many dissenting opinions from the Right

I read a post on Medium the other day. I’ve been grappling with Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) for the last couple years, according to some of my friends, and this article gave me a flare-up. Incidentally, these friends of mine who claim that I have a novel mental health issue; an issue that I think is less a health concern and more an actual sense of ethics and morality, have almost to-the-man all come down with The Ro; one of them is currently seriously ill and may or may not make it. It sucks to say that, it also sucked to tell him to be less self-centered every single time he launched into a boisterous tirade about his freedoms and liberty when he was asked to wear a mask by an innocent shopkeeper or host. I wonder if he wishes the person who transmitted it to him would have been wearing a mask? …

‘Only Suffering Will Radicalize Americans’

I honestly cannot remember who it was, but just recently I heard a fellow leftist make this proclamation. Yes folks, you heard that right, a fellow leftist! I am in fact a dirty commie, a stinkie pinkie, a soyboy left-o anti-fascist anarchist. I apologize for being abrasive, but there’s an awful lot of buildup there; it seems the people who complain the most about identity politics sure do like to play them, and very few and far between are the times I’ve felt comfortable enough to openly state my stance on issues, so every time it comes up it’s like a clogged firehose! Well, maybe a garden hose that’s been folded on itself, then quickly straightened out, or maybe the thumb thing. …
